How to Be the Best Guest at a Vacation Rental: Your Ultimate Guide to Being a Rockstar Traveler7/31/2024 So, you’re embarking on a vacation and have the luxury of staying in a fabulous vacation rental! Whether it’s a cozy cottage or a swanky apartment, this place isn’t just a hotel; it’s someone’s pride and joy. Here’s how you can be the best guest possible, ensuring that both you and your hosts have a fantastic experience.
1. Follow the Rules – They’re There for a Reason! Early Arrivals and Late Departures: We get it—vacation time is precious! But arriving before check-in or staying past checkout can be a real headache for hosts. They need time to prepare for the next guests, so sticking to the schedule helps everyone stay happy. Quiet Hours: Most vacation rentals have quiet hours (typically 10 pm to 7 am). This is to ensure that everyone, including the neighbors, can enjoy their rest. It’s not just a rule; it’s a way to spread good vibes all around. Guest Limits: Sometimes, vacation rentals have a cap on the number of guests. This is to maintain comfort and avoid overcrowding. Respecting this limit means everyone gets a better experience, and you keep the place in tip-top shape! Pet Policies: While we love our furry friends, some rentals have a strict no-pet policy. This is often due to guests with allergies or sensitivities. If you’re unsure, double-check before bringing your pet along. And for those who can't be without their pets, look for pet-friendly options in advance. Local boarders can be recommended by most hosts! Boarding is a great alternative if you want to give your fluff muffins a vacay in pet paradise! 2. Read the Fine Print! Check the Listing and Welcome Binder: Before you even set foot in the rental, familiarize yourself with the listing details, any emails from the host, and upon arrival, review the welcome binder. These resources are like treasure maps to a smooth stay! Respect the Furnishings: Think of the furnishings as the rental’s personality. Treat them with the same respect you would your own. Avoid rearranging furniture or using them in ways they’re not intended to be used. Clean Up After Yourself: Nobody expects you to deep-clean the rental, but a little tidying up goes a long way. Dispose of trash properly, wash the dishes you used, and leave the space as neat as you found it. 3. Ask Questions If You’re Unsure, Ask: Not sure how something works or where something goes? Ask the host! They’ll be more than happy to help you out, ensuring you have a smooth and enjoyable stay. 4. Towel & Supplies Etiquette Handle Towels and Supplies with Care: Vacation rentals often provide fresh towels and other amenities. Use them wisely—especially in the bathroom. Hair dyes, acne treatments, and makeup can sometimes bleach or stain linens. Opt for makeup wipes or dark washcloths to avoid accidents. 5. Hot Tub Harmony Hot Tub Etiquette: If your rental has a hot tub, treat it like a luxury item—because it is! Keep it clean, avoid lowering the temperature, and make sure it’s covered when not in use. It’s all about maintaining that spa-like experience for yourself and future guests. 6. Give Back Leave Helpful Feedback Privately: If you notice something that could be improved, share it with the host privately. Constructive feedback helps them enhance their property and service. Generous Reviews: If you had a great time, let the world know! Positive reviews not only show your appreciation but also help future travelers make informed choices. Remember, staying in a vacation rental is a bit like being a guest in someone’s home. Treat it with respect, follow the rules, and you’ll have a memorable and enjoyable stay. Happy travels, and here’s to being the BEST GUEST EVER! 🌟

We love to have fun here at the Bungalows and the experience we would like to highlight this season is the hot air balloon flight offered by Branson Balloon. If riding in a hot air balloon is on your bucket list, we highly recommend that you go for it while visiting the Ozarks! Branson Balloon pilot, Rodney Williams, has been flying for 30 years. He and his team offer flights within southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas with early morning and evening departures. It’s not an amusement park ride—This is the real deal. Soar 500 to 1,000 feet above the rolling hills and lakes. Embrace the breathtaking views! You may even wish to schedule an in-fight celebration. The crew has hosted many special occasions including engagements, birthdays, anniversaries, elopements and celebrations of life. What to expect: First, you will arrive at a meeting point. Once the party is present, the takeoff location will be disclosed. The group will rendezvous there, and the team will begin to unload and assemble the balloon. Lend a hand if you like! Once the basket and balloon are connected, the balloon is inflated. This process only takes a few minutes, and it is breathtaking, so be sure to grab some photos! Next up, you’ll be directed to board the craft. Photos are not to be taken during liftoff—It’s the perfect moment to find yourself in the present moment. While airborne, you’ll see the world from a whole new perspective. You may be surprised at the quiet calm you discover. If you’re popping the question, feel free to proceed. Rodney will try to give you the privacy you need for your special moment! Grab a selfie with Taneycomo winding through the valleys behind you. Flights are roughly an hour long. Rodney carefully calculates his desired landing location and communicates with the chase team. At the end of the trip, expect a graceful landing. Now it’s time to pack up and celebrate with the Balloonist’s Prayer. Learn a bit of hot air balloon history, toast to a safe landing and sip champagne (or a non-alcoholic version) from your new souvenir cup! Let Branson Balloon take your adventures a NEW level!
Pricing: The cost is $295 per person Monday through Thursday, and $350 per person Friday through Sunday (morning flights). Evening flights are $500 per person. A $50 deposit per person is required to reserve your flight. Visit www.bransonballoon.com for more information. Following is photo documentation of one of several BIG projects—The installation of a 43,000lb houseboat via 120-ton crane! The developers of The Boone-Docks had a vision to create a niche resort of repurposed boats and nautical themed cabins, just outside the Cricket Creek Marina and Campground. A tremendous amount of planning has gone into this project over the last few years. After several hurdles, changes of plan and months of coordination and preparation, it was finally moving day! There were more preparations in store for the team once they were on-site. First, the crane was put in to position and assembled. Next, the boat was carefully backed up into position. Everyone who was present watched the driver work his magic. Thankfully he was a professional boat mover and had nerves of steel! The hot tub was to be removed from the top deck of the boat for use at another unit. Once that was complete she was ready to be harnessed up. The move was tedious, but was safely and successfully completed within about four hours! We are super excited to see this yacht along with several other unique cabins come into the vacation rental scene near Table Rock Lake in Omaha, AR!
A HUGE THANKS to Jay Gipson Crane, Fitzco Marine Group and the bungalows team for all the hard work that went into this project! #houseboat #ayachtoffun #theboondocks #ozarks #yacht #yachtlife #vacationrentals #cabins #project #discoverbranson #tablerocklake #vrbo #airbnb #vacation #tinyhouse #boatlife When it's too hot to cook...It's summer, and let's be honest, no matter how much we all love the reward of our time tending the BBQ grill, sometimes it's just TOO hot to endure! We have put together a list of some of our favorite area restaurants to lighten your summertime cooking load! Close to Home | Omaha & Ridgedale
Arnie's Barn is one of our favorite spots to dine at Big Cedar. It’s just a few minutes down the road in Ridgedale, MO and the NEXT nearest to The Bungalows! The restaurant, which is situated overlooking the Top of the Rock golf course, offers contemporary Mexican cuisine. Lunch is served daily & you can plan for dinner on Friday or Saturday nights. Check out their menu for more information! Buzzard Bar is another Big Cedar property. Enjoy bar food and live music pretty much any evening! View their hours and more here. Branson FavoritesA more traditional Mexican restaurant, Casa Fuentes, is one of our all-time favorites! Located just off Hwy 65 at the beginning of the 76 Strip you can slip in for a quick bite or easily grab takeout. They also offer online ordering! Branson's Center Stage Grille & Kaffee Haus is a local restaurant with chef-inspired dishes. They serve breakfast and have amazing specials. We highly recommend the Smoked Prime Rib! Check out their extensive menu here. If you're craving something more exotic, find your way to Mo Mo Sushi & Grill located across from The Landing in downtown Branson. Their Box Combos are our favorite! Call ahead & bring your order back to the cabin for a nice evening in. 1-417-320-6125 Harrison PicksTallgrass is our TOP Harrison pick! This little restaurant/bar/coffee shop adjoins a health food store and is definitely a hidden gem! Their organically and locally-sourced ingredients make this option stand out amongst dozens of fast-food chains. Find them on Facebook for more info on daily specials, etc. Jamie's Local Flavor is another great locally-owned and operated restaurant in Harrison. If you're into pork, try the Deep Fried Bacon appetizer or the famed Bigger Than the Bun Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. The menu is extensive and the portions will leave you begging for a box. Find them on Facebook!
The Back-storyOur oldest daughter and her family had been living aboard a sailboat which was the source of some great inspiration! On a visit to see them, they showed us a floating "UFO" and several other floating bungalows in the Florida Keys which totally helped us define our plan! We immediately checked into several boats up and down the coast of Florida and everywhere in between. Then finally found our two beauties! The measurements were all we needed to move forward with our vision!
Enjoying the lake while in the OzarksTable Rock Lake is right in our backyard here in the Ozarks! With 800 miles of shoreline, the lake is over 43,000 acres and the deepest lake in Missouri. The lake is mainly situated in Missouri, but just so happens to dip down into northwest Arkansas (south of Branson) for our convenience! As you can imagine, there are endless options for lake-enjoyment. Here are a few of our best recommendations! Marina servicesCricket Creek Marina is our trusty destination for all things Table Rock Lake. The marina is located within a few minutes of our bungalow community here in Omaha, Arkansas. This full-service marina has a brand new Ship's Store (with oodles of cute apparel & souvenirs), grocery staples, ice, beer, fuel, lake accessories and a full spectrum of hard-to-find fishing gear! They launched their food shack this season and now serve up hot pizza & wings (available all day... they even have a mean breakfast pizza)! Feel free to call ahead or order in store. Cricket Creek Marina has a focus on affordable Table Rock Lake boat rentals. Their fleet includes fishing boats, deck boats, pontoons, tritoons (yes, they offer water slide boats) and runabouts! There is a large assortment of fun add-ons to choose from such at tubes, trampolines and the NEW Paradise Pads! If you have your own boat and would like to station it on the water during your stay they can generally accommodate. Ask about their nightly/weekly rates. They also offer year-round slips. The scene & sitesThere is an abundance of beauty to take in once you get out on the lake. The hills of the Ozarks surround you completely and provide endless opportunities for picturesque views of bluffs. You'll be sure to spot wildlife including eagles, fish, turtles, and deer as well. The infamous cliffs on Table Rock Lake make for great spectating. If you are seeking adventure you can even make the plunge! A big draw to Table Rock is the year-round fishing including largemouth, smallmouth, Kentucky bass, crappie, white bass, walleye & catfish. We recommend taking in the sunset out front of Table Rock Dam at least once! You may also venture further on the lake to Indian Point, Kimberling City and beyond!
An up and coming bungalow project just south of Branson, Missouri in Omaha, Arkansas will house two, unique vacation rental units. Nestled in the woods bordering a Corps. property line of Table Rock Lake, there is something very special in store for future vacationers to the Ozarks! Excavation work & FoundationsThe site first required some major TLC including the demolition of an existing trailer home. Once the unusable structure was removed, excavation work began. By the end of April, the foundations were laid!
